Customers take a spin on the latest hybris eCommerce roadmap

The world of eCommerce moves fast, so it was fitting that we rounded off our customer briefing day last month with timed laps at a velodrome.

Customer representatives from Joules, Evans Cycles and Fine and Rare Wines joined the Eclipse senior management team at the Derby Arena to hear news of the latest hybris roadmap and the implications for our customers’ businesses.  It was an excellent opportunity to discuss the latest developments, to get feedback and to share ideas.

After lunch, and with the formal business out of the way, we all got to have a go at velodrome riding. We were a mixed bunch, including regular bike riders and non-cyclists. Getting used to riding a bike without brakes and with our feet clipped in pedals took some doing, but eventually we were all competing to see who could do the fastest laps.

Unsurprisingly perhaps the winner was Ben Hart, Ecommerce Director of Evans Cycles, with Neil, our Head of Operations at Eclipse in second place. The most improved rider was Christine Box, our Head of QA and Testing. She had barely ridden a bike before but by the end of the day she was zooming round the banking of the velodrome like she’d been doing it all her life.

The day provided lots of fun and laughter alongside the business chat. The funniest incident of the day was when Eclipse Sales Director, Perm Ghattaura, crashed at ridiculously low speed with Tony, our Solutions Architect, causing them both to slide down the track on their backs. Happily that moment was captured on camera!

Everyone proclaimed the day a huge success and can’t wait for the next one, planned for later this year.

“Eclipse ran a great day bringing us upto date on hybris developments, very informative and well paced, was also great to meet so many other hybris end-users, thanks guys!”
Paul Esson, Head of Technology, Fine+Rare Wines Ltd.
